How safe are drugs purchased from Canada?
The practice of Americans crossing the boarder into Canada to purchase inexpensive
prescription is not new and in fact has been going on for years. Bus tours of
seniors from the Northern States were the norm in the 80’s and 90’s
however the advent of the mail order prescription became common place in the
late 1990’s and is mainstream today. We at Seniors Discount Health Services are committed to your health, safety and budget. As a mail order pharmacy
we have a strict set of checks and balances that ensure your safety is protected.
We will not compromise safety for price under any circumstance nor will we ship
an item if we feel it is not up to the same standards that our U.S. patients
are have come to expect. The Canadian Medical and Pharmaceutical standards are
as high and regulated as the United States standards. Due to the nature of our
industry we must be more vigilant about yoru safety than your neighborhood store.
We cannot afford to have any errors and is one of the many reasons we have a
Canadian Doctor review your prescriptions and have our pharmacist technicians
review all prescriptions before filling.

What are your shipping charges?
Seniors Discount Health Services charges a flat fee on a per order basis
(not per drug). The cost is $15.00 U.S. funds anywhere in the United States.
All costs are included in this fee. We use both the U.S. Government and the
Canadian Government Postal services.
Are there any extra fees?
There are NO extra or hidden fees. The price of the drug and the shipping is
all you pay.

Why is the name of my drug in the U.S. different
than same drug that I want to order from Canada and why might they appear different?
The drug manufactures register the names of the brand name drugs in each country.
In Canada some manufacturers use a different name for the exact same drug they
sell in the United States. Some drugs are all made in one place in the world
(Lipitor) and shipped world wide. Other drugs may appear different coming from
Canada but the active ingredients are exactly the same, only the colour or shape
has been modified. An example of this situation can be found using the United
States named drug Prilosec. In Canada Prilosec is called Losec but offered by
the same U.S. manufacturer.
What is the maximum quantity of drugs that I may
order and which is permitted by the FDA?
The maximum amount of medications that can be shipped to a U.S. citizen under
the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations is 3 months
supply per item and must be for personal use only not for re-sale. A Seniors Discount Health Services representative will call you when there is 30
days left on your order to confirm that you need a refill and arrange to have
it sent. This will ensure that any delays in the postal service or supply can
be dealt with in ample time to ensure that you the patient do not miss your
badly needed medications.

Are all drugs available by prescription in the United
States available from Canada?
In most cases yes all drugs available in the U.S. are available in Canada.

and walk you through the ordering process.
Do I have to pay sales tax?
No, sales tax is not charged on drugs.
Can I transfer my prescription from my local
or other mail order pharmacy?
Yes. Your prescription is your property. Should you desire Seniors Discount Health Services can contact your pharmacy on your behalf and have your
record transferred along with any prescriptions that you may have left. If there
are refills available we can fill them for you immediately and have them sent
to you.
Do you sell narcotics?
Unfortunately we cannot ship narcotics into the U.S. in accordance with United
States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations.
How long will it take to receive my order?
The typical time for a first order is 7-10 business days once all the paperwork
has been received in good order. This includes processing and shipping. Re-fills
typically ship within 5-7 business days and should arrive well before your current
supply runs out. All of the above times are worst case scenarios and you will
find that your orders may arrive sooner than expected. In the event that your
order doesn’t arrive within the advertised ‘worst case’ scenario,
please contact our toll free 1-866-571-7377 (PDPS) customer service line and
one of our client service team members will assist you.
What are generic drugs and what is the difference
between the Brand name drug and the Generic drug equivalent?
Generic drugs are those drugs on which the patent protection has run out. Brand
name drugs are given a period of time in which no other company may copy their
product. This helps offset the cost of developing the drug in the first place
by giving the drug manufacturer a monopoly on the drug for a certain number
of years. The length of time which a Brand name drug has this protection is
significantly shorter (5 years) in Canada than in the United States. The Generic
drug has the exact same molecular make up of the name Brand drug it is simply
made by a different drug manufacturer.
A generic drug is identical, or bioequivalent to a brand name drug in dosage
form, safety, strength, route of administration, quality, performance characteristics
and intended use. Although generic drugs are chemically identical to their branded
counterparts, they are typically sold at substantial discounts from the branded
price. For more information on Generic Drugs click
here and go to the FDA’s website which has all the information you
need to know on this subject.

Are generic drugs safe?
Yes. The Canadian government closely monitors the generic drug manufacturers
to ensure the highest safety and quality standards are adhered to. Canadian
generic drugs are as safe as American made generic or like Brand name drugs.
Can I get both brand name and generic drugs from
Seniors Discount Health Services and are they the same medication?
Yes, you can obtain either brand name or generic drugs from Seniors Discount Health Services. According to the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association
(MPhA) if there’s a generic equivalent of a brand name drug available
we must advise the patient of this and allow them the option to choose which
drug they would like to purchase. Generic and name brand drugs are the exact
same medication as can be purchased from a licensed U.S. pharmacy.
Is there a difference between American and Canadian
medications?
From a quality standpoint there is NO difference, however Canadian prices are
typically less for the same drugs which one can purchase in the United States.
Is the quality of drugs sold by Seniors Discount Health Services the same as those that I buy in the United States?
The quality of the Canadian drugs sold by Seniors Discount Health Services
to our American patients is exactly the same as the American drugs. In some
cases the same drug is made in one place in the world (Lipitor is made in Ireland)
and shipped world wide. Other drugs may appear different coming from Canada
but the active ingredients are exactly the same, only the colour or shape has
been modified. An example of this situation can be found using the United States
named drug Prilosec. In Canada Prilosec is called Losec but offered by the same
U.S. manufacturer. Although drugs may appear different or be called by a different
name their therapeutic affects are exactly the same.
Is it possible that the pills I have purchased
from Seniors Discount Health Services may look different than the pills
I have obtained locally?
Yes. The reason for this could be that they were made by a different drug manufacturer
(in the case of a generic made drug). There could also be a different look due
to the marketing choices of the Canadian brand name or generic manufacturer.
However the drug sent to you will have the exact same molecular or biometric
makeup as that which was prescribed by your physician and confirmed by the Canadian
physician.
Is my personal information stored with Seniors Discount Health Services safe?
All of your information is maintained in a safe secure environment in accordance
with Canadian privacy laws. No personal information will be released without
your written consent.

What is the return policy?
Unfortunately all sales are final. For this reason we have many cheques and
balances to ensure that orders sent are correct. We guarantee that all orders
shipped will be in accordance with your doctor’s wishes and exactly as
prescribed.
What payment options does Seniors Discount Health Services accept?
We accept Visa, Master Card, postal money orders (drawn on U.S. funds) electronic
funds transfers and International postal money orders. International Money orders
should be made payable to Seniors Discount Health Services.
Can I use my Insurance plan coverage to pay
for my medication?
Typically insurance companies in the United States will not issue payments
to Canadian pharmacies. Seniors Discount Health Services will work with
any insurance company that’s willing to work with us. We can however,
provide you with a receipt in order for you to fill in your insurance claim
